Maridoth

Welcome to Maridoth

Welcome to Maridoth; a twice-monthly campaign set in a world of high-fantasy; magic, sorcery and danger lurk around each corner. Can you stand against it?

The campaign is a twice-monthly episodic campaign, that will advance one level every session, starting at level 1. Each week, a new adventure will be presented, and your heroes will have to beat that adventure in order to reap the rewards at the end.

Next Session: Monday, May 23   7:30

Adventures:
Session 1: Tomb of the Greenskinned Prince (Adventure Report)
Session 2: The High Seas of Telredar (Adventure Report)
Session 3: The Swamps of Muckrot (Adventure Report Soon)

To register, fill out this form. You must fill out this form for each new character you plan on playing, the first time you play them.

To register for a particular adventure, see the links above.

F.A.Q.

Want to play in Maridoth? All you need to do is register and you can play in our session! Here's an F.A.Q. to answer most questions you may have about the game:

What Can I Play?

Races are listed in the "Races in Maridoth" documents, which can be found here. Any character class, however, is allowed.

You may select any background benefit that is not campaign-specific. If you want a particular skill-based background, let me know and we can work something out.

How Character Advancement Works:

Each week, a new adventure will be presented. You may use a pre-existing character, which you have used in Maridoth before, or you may create a new character which you can register with me. Using a character more then once will give you special rewards and equipment, which will help you get an edge on the competition, but playing a new character is considered alright as well.

If you use an existing character in a session, after that session, your character is sent to wander and complete other jobs. For every two sessions you play with a character, he will receive a magic item to show this advancement. This will be represented by you receiving one magic item one level bellow your current level. The DM will let you know what item you receive, and it will be themed to the adventure you've just completed.

When you create a new character, it is considered to be a new member to the Adventurer's Guild, and therefore will only start with the magical items given for starting at above level 1 (one at level, one above level, and one bellow). However, each week will have aCharacter Theme, and creating a character that fits this theme counts as if you've played an already existing character once before. This can vary, from power sources (Arcane, Psyonic, Divine, Martial, Shadow), to different roles and "wild card" weeks. Some weeks can contain more then one theme, to make character creation more challenging or interesting.

Here are a list of themes bellow:
  • Arcane - Any one class with the arcane power source.
  • Martial - Any one class with the martial power source.
  • Primal - Any one class with the primal power source.
  • Psyonic - Any one classo with the psyonic power source.
  • Hybrid - Any hybrid hero.
  • Multiclass - Your hero must take a multi-class feat at level 1.
  • Wild Card - You will be assigned a random role (roles if hybrid is also a keyword).
For example, say you have played a Wilden Shaman from level one, and are now level 6. You have received 3 magical items from playing your character more, but now you want to try something else. The theme of the week is , so you create a level 6 Tiefling Bard/Paladin hybrid. This character fits in the theme, so you gain credit for this character. At the end of the session, you receive a new magical item, which you can either gift to your Shaman or your new Hybrid.

Another example; say you just started out playing a Dwarf Ranger, and are now level 2. At the end of this session, you will receive your first gift, but you want to try something else. You create a level 2 Goliath Runepriest to play, but this week, the theme is , and you were given the Striker role. This character doesn't fit the theme at all, so you won't recieve a magic item until you play either your Runepriest of Ranger for two sessions.

If you have any questions about themes or character advancement, feel free to ask me and I'll better explain the system.

What about magic items?
When you make a new character above level 1, you pick 3 magic items: one at level, one above, and one bellow. This is in addition to any bonus items given from attending sessions or following themes. This represents items found in non-session based contracts. If you didn't attend a session, you turned down the contract, so there's no sense in getting the rewards.

If you're playing an existing character, and are trying to level them up, you have two options: give up all current magic items and take the rules above, OR add one item the same level as the adventure, or one level above.

Gold is always recalculated, and may be spent on magic items as normal.

What Do I Need to Play?

You will need the following to play in Maridoth:

  • Dice (or borrow someones)

When Will the Sessions Take Place?

I will let you know at least 10 days before a session is to take place, and you are required to confirm availability at least 3 days before the session. If something comes up, let me know; better to tell me your going to be there and something come up then to not register and all the spots fill up.

The sessions are set to take place bi-weekly, typically on a Monday at around 7:30.

Can [Insert name here] Play?

Of course! They just have to register their characters. Also, they will have to have some way to create/maintain their character on their own. I won't hold characters for anyone.

What Do You Mean, "Registered"?

I keep track of everyone who plays, and what characters they play, down to how many times they've played them. When I register your character, I make sure your character is legal for the campaign I'm playing, and that you can start to receive awards.
