Lo, Struck The Hammer Blows

Quite night split asunder,
Quick as light, the hammer blows.
Awakened by a roar of thunder,
Thunder roars, the hammer blows.
The biting cold, driving hunger,
Met by force, the hammer blows.
Quite night split asunder.
Lo, struck the hammer blows.

Ice comes with blankets of snow,
Cold, fierce, the winter winds blow.
With great hunger the winter grows,
Hunger driving, the winter wind blows.
Protector of Midgard, his name they know,
Ever fearful, the winter wind blows.
Jotun come, they do now sow.
Lo, struck the hammer blows.

A battle fought once a year,
Herald mighty, the hammer blows.
Gods and man, they should fear.
Yet again, the winter wind blows.
For then when the dust was cleared,
Not again did the winter wind blow.
With Jotun felled, we all do cheer.
Lo, struck the hammer blows.
